At age 14, Hans was befriended by two musicians,

Weyse and Siboni. Later he resided with the poet

Guldberg, who enrolled him in the Royal Theater.

Jonas Collin, the director of the theater, took a 

liking to Andersen, and became his  lifelong patron.
