FREDERICK II
(1194 - 1250)
EMPEROR & KING OF
GERMANY, SICILY & JERUSALEM

sent registered mail, Ansbach, Germany, 19 August 1994.
Frederick
successfully avoided papal domination of his realm, which enraged Gregory IX.
A
plan devised to poison Frederick failed, and Piers della Vigna, the Emperor's
intimate
life
companion was falsely accused. Piers killed himself, leaving the King bitterly
depressed.
