Distraught over the death of his companion, Cocteau turned to opium.

An affair with actor Jean Marais helped  cure him of drug dependence.

Cocteau had many lovers throughout his long, happy, successful life.

 

 

France honored Cocteau on three occasions by using his 'Marianne' on postage

stamps, a 20c in 1961, a 50c for ARPHILA 75, and a souvenir sheet for PHILEX 82.
