JEAN COCTEAU
(1889 - 1963)
ARTIST - FILM MAKER -
NOVELIST - PLAYWRIGHT - POET

Distraught
over the death of his companion, Cocteau turned to opium.
An
affair with actor Jean Marais helped cure him of drug dependence.
Cocteau
had many lovers throughout his long, happy, successful life.
France
honored Cocteau on three occasions by using his 'Marianne' on postage
stamps,
a 20c in 1961, a 50c for ARPHILA 75, and a souvenir sheet for PHILEX 82.
